I just was reading my daily dose of tech blogs via RSS reader > Google Reader and I realized that prominent tech blogs such as Lifehacker, Gizmodo, and Techmeme link to other tech blogs as well such as Makeuseof, Downloadsquad, and Giveawayoftheday. Its also very interesting to see who is reading who's blog and then blogging about that person's blog post. This trend may not be ground breaking news, but it definitely gives me more confidence to post about their post, especially since I view my audience to be all people groups, not just the tech savy. When I first started this blog it was discouraging to see the most up-to-date news was snagged by rather popular blogs, but now I know I can "re-post" them with my worldview attached and not worry about "double posting". I guess sometimes trying to be "original" means stating something you see in your own words. And that is what Im going to do....Unless I find the breaking news first.
:D
In other news, today I attended PACE's (Program for Acceleration in Careers of Engineering) annual Open House as an alumnus(Class of 2004) and potential volunteer for next year. PACE is a Saturday program aimed to give African American and Latino highschoolers and 8th graders to exposure to various field of engineering (mechanical, computer, robotics, and electrical) and enhance their mathmatics skills. This program also trains students to be leaders and scholars via student run events (fundraisers, field trips, and public speaking sessions), research/group projects, and more. As a potential volunteer for Fall 2009 Im leaning towards helping out in the Intro to Engineering course because it touches on several previously mentioned fields of engineer and its alot of fun. I am also looking into providing content for their website. As cheesy as it sounds I want to give back to the organization that helped me so much in so many ways.
